We at BCLI would like to bid a grateful farewell and give a big thank you to Emily Clough as she concludes her term on our Board.
Emily’s sojourn with us at the BCLI began when she was appointed to the Board by the Ministry of Attorney General in March of 2018. She brought a wealth of experience and support to our organization as a partner of Clark Wilson LLP specializing in estates, trusts and elder law, and as a frequent speaker at conferences on elder law and incapacity.
Emily had a long service on our Board and participated in many of our projects and outreach activities. Her dedication has been exceptional. She served as Chair from 2020 to 2022 and Vice-chair from 2022 to 2023. Emily’s leadership as the chair of one of our project committees created the updated edition of the Undue Influence Recognition/Prevention Guide as well as being one of the three speaker in it’s video guide. Furthermore, she was a committee member to the Inclusive Investing Project which resulted in a study paper and resources to help adults with disabilities to participate meaningfully in investment decision-making. Beyond her roles within the boardroom, Emily’s talents extended to the realm of debate, where she was a member of the winning team in the 2010 and 2011 Great Debates, co-hosted by BCLI and Boughton Law.
Emily’s enthusiasm, dedication and generosity in sharing her expertise have enriched our organization and the community immensely. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Emily for her invaluable service, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
