The House of Commons Standing Committee on the Status of Women is currently conducting a study on intimate and domestic violence in Canada. The CCEL submitted a brief to the committee discussing the unique barriers older women face and outlining the complex support needs of older women.
The brief is based on the CCEL project Promising Practices for Housing Women who are Older and Fleeing Violence or Abuse which identified 13 barriers that older women face as well as identifying what practitioners and women who are older want to meet their unique needs.
CCEL’s brief is available online at the Standing Committee on the Status of Women’s website. There are a total of 64 briefs submitted to the committee.
