This project examines the rights of parties who have either deliberately or unwittingly entered into illegal transactions. “Illegal” in this context refers to a breach of any type of law (and is not limited to criminal conduct), while “transactions” encompasses contracts and non-contractual arrangements, such as trusts and gifts. The project examines the general rule governing illegal transactions and makes recommendations for its reform.
